History of our landing strip

In February 2016 I had a meeting with Terry and Clyde Leisagang about developing an airfield on their property “Umkomanzi Drift.” We took a walk on the area that we thought would be good for the airfield. 8 years in the waiting to get an airfield on the coast has finally become a reality.

The runway we marked out was a 04/22 degree heading. We found we could lengthen the runway to 900 meters.

There were many rocks and some water logged area that needed to be considered so Clyde suggested we use gravel from the nearby river.
